You may have heard people talking about the Nike Doernbecher shoes and the cool designs that release in this style. You may find yourself wondering “What is Doernbecher?” or “what does this Doernbecher shoe look like?”
Nike teamed up with the OHSU Doernbecher Hospital in 2003. They allow the children, patients at the hospital, to design sneakers and apparel. The patients, or as Nike likes to call them patient designers, get to design shoes from the Air max zero all the way to a Jordan Retro. Nike picks 6 patients to create their designs and these patients shoes become available to the public to purchase. Since 2003 they have raised $14 million dollars for the OHSU Doernbecher Hospital.
